Veggies are your best friends. We bet that your kids don’t enjoy their veggie meal. Many vegetables have that magical ability to regrow themselves. Some of these foods are to be regrown again, but there are some that require a bit larger commitment. However, you definitely need to try and grow at least one of these foods. Do not worry it will not take much from your time. In fact, you will be done in no time.
The only bad thing is that veggies rot pretty fast. We give you the handiest trick to overcome this problem, and it won’t cost you a dime.

It’s an early spring veggie. If you cultivate it properly, your asparagus can be regrown for 25 years. Asparagus seeds need a few years to mature, and crowns are a better solution if you need your vegies sooner. Do not over-water your asparagus, otherwise it will rot.
Garlic cloves will release new sprouts. A single clove will give you over 10 cloves. Add raw garlic sprouts to your salads, pasta and other dishes that go well with their mild taste.
Place the sprouts in a glass contained that you’ve filled with some water. Keep the container on your windowsill or in your garden. Replace the sprouts as soon as they grow a few inches.
Always use a large pot and high-quality soil. You should see the first leaves within a few days. Harvest your garlic once the leaves are brown, and tend to fall off.
You can regrow carrots from carrot tops. Soak them in a dish that you’ve filled with water. Keep the dish in a well-lit area. Your carrots may have a bitter taste, but when combined with vinegar and garlic, they’ll make for a tasty salad.
Soak the ends of your Chinese cabbage in water, and keep them in a well-lit area. Transfer them in a pot, and you will soon notice the new ‘head’ coming out.
Use the bottom of the ‘head.’ Place it in a half inch container filled with water. Once you notice the new roots and leaves coming out, plant the lettuce in a pot or in your garden. The leaves will grow up twice their size.
Use the same method to regrow cabbage.
Scallion roots can give you young scallions. Soak an inch of the scallion in a glass of water, and keep it on the windowsill. You should see the new scallions coming out, and pick them once they grow about 4-6 inches in length.
The bottoms of your celery can be used to grow new veggies. Cut them off, and place them in a bowl of water. Keep it in a sunny spot. You should notice the first leaves within three days, and then plant your celery in the garden.
Soak cilantro stems in a glass of water. Once they grow longer, plant them in a pot, and keep them in a sunny spot. You will notice the new herbs in a few months.
Use 3-inch-long basil clippings. Soak them in a glass of water. Keep it in a sunny spot. Once the roots grow about 2 inches in length, plant the clippings in pots. Water your basil regularly.
Harvest artichoke only when you see the purple flowers open. Use moist, well-drained soil to regrow artichoke. They also need enough sunlight.
Plant your artichoke about 36 inches apart. Add 2 inches of compost before the planting part.
Fertilize the soil using high-nitrogen fertilizer. Do this every month. Harvest the artichoke in spring or fall, as this is their secondary peak. Harvest the buds before they open, but make sure the stalk is fully extended.
