This recipe is an amazing way to remove the mucus from your lungs. Most important, it is safe for children as well. You will need the following ingredients:
- One cup of water
- One cup of brown sugar
- One lemon cut into slices
- One tablespoon of marshmallow root
- A spoonful of sage
- One tablespoon of flaxseed
Combine the water and sugar, put them in a saucepan and bring the mixture to boil. Cook until the sugar melts. Then, add the rest of the ingredients, mix well and remove the saucepan from the stove. Let it sit for about 15 minutes and then strain the liquid. Transfer the mixture to a glass jar with tight lid. Keep it refrigerated so that you avoid spoilage. You should drink one tablespoon of this syrup three times on daily basis, until the condition improves.
HOME REMEDIES FOR A COUGH WITH PHLEGM

Just add onions into four cups of boiled water and bring the mixture to boil. Let it cool, strain the liquid and sweeten it with lemon, ginger, and a bit of honey. Consume three cups of the tea on daily basis.
- Remedy with Garlic
Just as the above mentioned onion, this vegetable is another of the allies for people with respiratory issues. Garlic acts as a natural antibiotic thanks to the many valuable compounds it contains. You can also use it in many ways, such as making a tea out of it just as the one with onion described above, or cutting a clove and eating it raw alone or in salads.
- Remedy with Vaporizers
This one is one of the oldest and one of the most effective home remedies for removing phlegm from your lungs. Put a pot of water to boil. When it is at a rapid boil, bring the face near it, cover the head with a towel and make the vapors. You can either make the vapors with water only or you can add a handful of coarse salt or some medicinal herbs beneficial for respiratory problems, such as sage, mint, thyme, elderberry, and eucalyptus.
- Remedy with Milk and Ginger
All you need is a glass of warm milk and a small slice of ginger root. The ginger has expectorant properties and adding the warm milk helps in the elimination of phlegm that bothers you. Just mix the two ingredients and drink it before it gets cold. It is recommended to consume it before bedtime, as it helps you breathe better and fall asleep easier.
- Remedy with Honey and Pepper
Both honey and pepper have strong expectorant properties, which in turn help in expelling the phlegm by coughing. Just mix one tablespoon of honey with a pinch of ground black pepper and take two times on daily basis.
