Prostate cancer, also known as carcinoma of the prostate, is the development of cancer in the prostate, a gland in the male reproductive system.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in men. Prostate cancer usually grows slowly and initially remains confined to the prostate gland, where it may not cause serious harm.
While some types of prostate cancer grow slowly and may need minimal or no treatment, other types are aggressive and can spread quickly.
Cauliflower and Turmeric United Against Prostate Cancer
According to researchers at Rutgers University, New Jersey, turmeric has the potential for the treatment and prevention of prostate cancer.
The scientists tested turmeric along with phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC), a naturally occurring substance in certain vegetables such as cauliflower, watercress, cabbage, winter cress, broccoli, brussels sprouts, kale, kohlrabi and turnips.
They say that in experiments in laboratory mice, PEITC and curcumin, alone or in combination, showed significant cancer-preventive qualities.
According to many experts in alternative medicine, the combination of cauliflower and turmeric, is regarded as one of the most powerful preventives against the growth of prostate cancer, which is very often present in men of old age.
Besides prevention of prostate cancer, scientists claim that this combination is also extremely useful in the prevention of breast cancer and leukemia in young children.
