Have you ever felt too old to do something? You surely have! Well, Ernestine Shepherd is a living proof that age is just a number! This strong woman is the oldest female bodybuilder in the world, and she turned 81 this June!
If you have noticed a circulating meme which shows two elderly ladies, one constrained to a wheelchair, and the other fit and standing up, you know this inspiring woman, as she is the happy woman on it.
However, her story is unique! Even though she holds a record in the Guinness Book of World Records, but she wasn’t e bodybuilder all her life!
Actually, she didn’t start exercising until she was 56 years old!
Ernestine Shepherd was born in Baltimore on June 16th, 1936. She took care of her sister, and when she passed away from a brain aneurysm, Ernestine decided to take a proper care of her own body and health.
She needed to change her lifestyle, as she has already developed high blood pressure.
Today, this determined woman wakes up at 3 am every morning, runs about 80 miles (130km) weekly, and eats a calorie-controlled diet, which contains vegetables, boiled egg whites, chicken, and lots of water.
In her own words, her true secret of success was to ‘never give up.’
